Fantasy and Science Fiction

Fantasy/Science Fiction

Stories that violate the laws of reality
Talking animals
Science fiction= subgenre of fantasy

Criteria:
1.     Characters must behave in consistent and believable ways
2.   Still rules in the fantasy world
3.   Authors must assist the readers in the fantasy aspect of the text
4.  Themes should still explore universal truths

K: I know that fantasy/science fiction are not realistic. They include things like talking animals, magic, aliens, The Lockness Monster, Bigfoot etc.

W: I learned that science fiction is a subgenre of fantasy. I thought they were classified as two separate genres.

L: I need to continue exploring themes in fantasy and science fiction texts. To me that is harder to understand and analyze considering the text includes unrealistic elements.

S: I will share this on my blog and in my classroom with my students.
